Medicine Dance – Kernunnos Format
The Medicine Dance in the Kernunnos format was born within the project alongside Music and Medicine Dance, a path dedicated to healing through sound, movement, and presence.
At the core of this work lies an ancient and profound vision of “Medicine,” inspired by the traditions of native peoples: Medicine is not a drug, but everything that brings well-being, harmony, and balance to the human being. Good Medicine is anything that nourishes the soul, body, and spirit.
the language of dance
The Medicine Dance format combines structured techniques with expressive freedom.
The movements are inspired by nature and its archetypes:
- the elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air
- animal energies
- the archetypal forces: the Warrior, the Priestess, the Sacred Woman, Vision, and the Third Eye
The technique is not passively experienced, but actively lived and interpreted. Each gesture becomes an experience, each step a bridge between the visible world and the inner self. Dancing takes place both individually and in a group. In collective dance, a guide leads while others follow, but leadership is fluid and rotates: everyone has their own space for expression and guidance.
During performances, instruments and symbolic objects are integrated, such as drums, rattles, stones, herbs, candles, moons, cauldrons, and other elements that amplify the intention and energy of the practice.
Dance as Trance and Healing
At the heart of Medicine Dance lies the ecstatic and transformative experience.
Through slow, hypnotic, and ritual music—often created within the Kernunnos project—and slow, mindful, and deeply present movements, one enters an altered state of consciousness.
In that space: time suspends, the mind quiets, and only the present moment exists.
One connects with the Divine, the One, the All.
During the dance, spontaneous chants, soul sounds, and shared vocal expressions may emerge, especially during circle moments.
Although the techniques are defined, they leave ample space for individual expression: there is no rigidity, no forcing, and timing and coordination are free, allowing the meditative trance to flow naturally and safely.
The gatherings
Medicine Dance classes are monthly gatherings lasting three hours. Each gathering is a truly sacred space in which:
- dance is performed and the healing process is activated through movement
- guided meditations are practiced
- shamanic journeys are practiced
- Inner experiences and emotional journeys are shared
- Themes such as emotional management and messages from the inner world are explored.
A field of sisterhood, attentive listening, and deep sharing is created.
The environment is ritualistic and shamanic: feathers, drums, incense, candles, symbols, and beauty accompany each experience, supporting the inner journey.
The Sacred Feminine and the Wild Woman
This path is deeply connected to the Sacred Feminine, the rediscovery of a woman’s ancestral power, and the archetype of the Wild Woman.
Through dance, the body becomes temple, instrument, and medicine.
Ancient memory is awakened, the voice is freed, and the inner fire is reignited. Medicine Dance is a return to the self, an act of healing, a living ritual.
